Visit to the Pediatric Hospital together with the Puerto Rico Food Bank
San Juan, PR– A group of Empresas Fonalledas employees visited the University Pediatric Hospital in Centro Médico, in support of the HEROES project of the Food Bank of Puerto Rico. This organization received a donation from the Mano Amiga Program of the Plaza Las Américas Foundation.
The HEROES project is aimed at children and young cancer patients and survivors, to provide healthy snacks that help improve their nutrition and quality of life. This initiative helps reduce some of the barriers that this population may face in accessing nutritious foods and providing them with food security.
During the visit, the group of volunteers made up of representatives of Empresas Fonalledas, staff from the Food Bank, the CAP Foundation and Hospital employees, made a round to deliver snacks to outpatient and hospitalized patients.
The Mano Amiga Program of the Plaza Las Américas Foundation and the Plaza Del Caribe Foundation has supported the Food Bank in multiple projects since 2016, including the HEROES program, Mochila Alegre and FaceGenes.
