A Chance for Change: Programa Mano Amiga Donation
Application Period Begins
Inviting non-profit organizations focused in the areas of Education, Arts and Culture,
Entrepreneurship, Health, Environment and Women’s Empowerment.
The Programa Mano Amiga of the Plaza Las Américas and Plaza Del Caribe Foundations began the first period of the year to receive requests for donations from non-profit organizations that serve the metro and southern areas of Puerto Rico. The period to receive proposals will be from March 1 to 31.
As part of its commitment to positive change, the Programa Mano Amiga invites organizations that work tirelessly to make a difference to submit project proposals in the following areas:
- Education – To be limited to those programs aimed at facilitating, providing and strengthening the K-12 school curriculum.
- Arts and Culture – Supporting the development of new talent in the areas of music, dance, theater, painting, crafts and literature.
- Entrepreneurship – Support the offering of services and educational platforms aimed at individuals interested in establishing or growing their own businesses.
- Health – Supporting programs aimed at providing tools and mechanisms to help community groups address problems related to the following chronic diseases in pediatric or older adults: cardiovascular conditions, cancer, diabetes and Alzheimer’s disease.
- Environment – Programs that address specific environmental needs to improve a particular community.
- Women’s Empowerment – To provide tools to help women’s physical, mental and emotional safety and support their economic sustainability.
The Plaza Las Américas and Plaza Del Caribe Foundations carefully evaluate and select initiatives that demonstrate a significant and sustainable impact on the communities they serve. In the past eight years, the Programa Mano Amiga has made a social investment of more than $3 million, impacting some 370,000 people. A total of 126 non-profit organizations in different parts of Puerto Rico have benefited from these donations granted through the Program.
“We firmly believe in the power of collaborative work and the transformative potential of local initiatives. We are excited to once again begin the process of learning about the work of new organizations or learning about the progress of those we have already worked with. We are inspired to create a positive impact through the projects that will be supported in this edition,” said Lorraine Vissepó, communications director of Empresas Fonalledas.
